School Mathematics Competition

매년 멜번 세컨더리에서는 학교별 수학경시대회를 하는데요. 바로 School Mathematics Competition 입니다.  홈페이지에서있는 수학문제를 다운받아 보면 정말 어떻게 풀라는 것인지 이해조차 하기 힘듭니다.  어쨌거나 수학 잘 하는 아들이라 자랑스럽네요.

7,8 학년은 Junior Division  문제를 풀고요.  9,10 학년은 Intermediate Division, 11,12 학년은 Senior Division 문제를 세시간 정도에 풉니다. 이 대회에 참석하려면 우선 학교 대표로 먼저 뽑혀야 합니다. 각 학교에서 뽑힌 대표들이 모여서 다시 시험을 치는데요. 여기서 Leader Board에 들어간 것이니 정말 수학 잘 하는 게 맞습니다.   

성씨를 보면 중국애들이 태반이네요. 호주에서 중국애들이 공부 열심히 하기로 유명하죠. Intermediate Division에 한국 학생으로서 Scotch College 의 Matthew Lee군이  Outstanding Award Winners 에 당당히 올라있네요.
