For Auckland golf fans Sam An has long been recognised as a player of huge potential. The Titirangi Golfer began to realise that promise in 2011 when he claimed his first national title by winning the NZ Foursomes with Fraser Wilkin. He went onto finish runner-up at the South Island Stroke Play losing to fellow NZ rep Vaughan McCall on the final hole and runner-up at the North Island Stroke Play. His crowning achievement came when An claimed the NZ Under 19 title at Omokoroa. He had a fine international debut season in 2011 where he represented NZ at the Trans-Tasman Cup and the Nomura Cup in Fiji. An is one of the most consistent ball strikers in the country which led him to winning the Grant Clements Trophy at the Mount Maunganui Golf Club in 2012. One of the real up and coming players from the Srixon Academy there is a lot to like about the way An plays his golf.
