구글토크(google talk)가 회사에서 접속되지 않을 때

회사에서 상시로 띄워놓고 있는 메신저가 있는데 바로 구글토크와 스카이프인데요. msn, nate 같은 메신저는 일치감치 방화벽에 막혀서 회사에서는 사용할 수 없기 때문이지요.  지금 근무하고 있는 회사에서는 구글토크마저도 회사네트웍에서 사용이 불가능하도록 막혀있습니다.  구글 메일을 주로 사용하는 나로서는 회사 컴퓨터에서 구글토크가 실행되지 않는다면 여러모로 불편합니다. 그런데 우연히 문성태 차장이 알려준 팁인데 이렇게 했더니 구글토크가 잘 접속되는군요.

1. 구글 토크 영문판 다운로드 : http://www.google.com/talk/index.html

2. 채팅창의 'setting' 메뉴에 들어가서 'start automatically when starting window' 를 체크 해제

3. 프로그램 종료

4. 시작-프로그램-google talk 에 들어가서 바로가기 아이콘을 우클릭해서 속성에 들어감

5.  "C:\Program Files\Google\Google 토크\googletalk.exe" 의 뒤에 "띄워쓰기한칸/nogaiaauth' 붙임

내가 쓰는 구글토크는 영문버젼인데 한글버젼에서는 파일전송이 되지 않지만 영문버젼에서는 파일전송이 되기 때문에 편리합니다. 구글토크의 가장 큰 장점이라면 지메일과의 연동성이라고 해야 할 것입니다.  메일이 도착하면 알림메시지가 뜨고 이것을 클릭하면 도착한 메일을 바로 읽을 수 있거든요. 이 외에도 화상통화, 음성통화 기능까지 지원하기 때문에  메신저로서의 왠만한 기능은 다 가지고 있다고 볼 수 있어요.
 
이제 지메일이 도착되면 바로 알림 메시지가 뜨겠네요. 참고로 gmail 도 회사 네트웍의  web keeper 프로그램에서 막혀서 확인할 수 없었지만 http 대신에 https 프로토콜을 사용하는 방법으로 회피하여 사용하고 있어요. 즉 주소창에  https://gmail.com 이라고 입력하면 방화벽을 통과되는군요.



내친김에 구글토크의 숨겨진 명령 파라메터에 대하여 인터넷에서 찾아 보았더니 좀더 다양한 파라메터들이 숨겨져 있군요.

Google's Secret Command-Line Parameters

/nomutex: allows you to open more than one instance of Google Talk

/autostart: when Google Talk is run with this parameter, it will check the registry settings to see if it needs to be started or not. If the "Start automatically with Windows" option is unchecked, it won't start.
/forcestart: same as /autostart, but forces it to start no matter what option was set.
/S upgrade: Used when upgrading Google Talk
/register: registers Google Talk in the registry, includig the GMail Compose method.
/checkupdate: check for newer versions
/plaintextauth: uses plain authentication mechanism instead then Google's GAIA mechanism. Used for testing the plain method on Google's servers.
/nogaiaauth: disables GAIA authentication method. The same as above.
/factoryreset: set settings back to default.
/gaiaserver servername.com: uses a different GAIA server to connect to Google Talk. Used for debug purposes only, there are no other known GAIA servers.
/mailto email@host.com: send an email with Gmail
/diag: start Google Talk in diagnostic mode
/log: probably has something to do with the diagnostic logging
/unregister: ?
/embedding: ?
